Answers to your questions....

I am going to try and answer some of your email questions and if you have any more in the future ask them in a response to my blog so I can reply to everyone with the answers.

For those of you wondering, I am living in this house for the whole time I am here but if we want we have a host family that we go to for Shabbat and other holidays and whatever else they want to include is in.

Ashdod is the 5th largest city in Israel, but that is misleading for a country with only about 7 million people. There are about 200,000 in Ashdod, it feels like a city because of the tall buildings and the neighborhoods are all very close and walkable to eachother and different parts of the city, not like suburban America.

I believe Ashdod was a biblical city and not until the second half of the 20th century did people start to settle here again. Everything was laid out and build from a plan, google images online and you will see what I am talking about. It is now as the largest port in Israel, ahead of Haifa, although its not as popular of a city. I am guessing there are some port jobs but that many other people commute to Tel Aviv or other cities for work. Tel Aviv is a quick 25 minute train ride and Jerusalem is around an hour bus drive.

Sorry about typos in the last section. I will try to work on my English while I am here in Israel :) but I cannot guarantee anything.

Until next time...
